Govee is adding more flair to its smart lighting lineup with two new star projectors, designed to turn your ceiling into either a night sky or a calming seascape.
Joining the Star Light Projector (Nebula), which made its debut at IFA 2025, the new arrivals are the Galaxy Light Projector 2 Pro and the Star Light Projector (Ocean Wave), each putting its own spin on immersive ambient lighting.
A sharper night sky at home
The standout is the Galaxy Light Projector 2 Pro, which upgrades to an 8K ultra-HD image and a new 4MP lens system.
According to Govee, that’s double the resolution of its predecessor, so details like nebulas and star clusters should stay crisp even when cast across ceilings or walls.
With a brightness of 230 lux, it remains visible even with lamps on, while the bundled discs and lighting effects let you swap between cosmic backdrops at will. There’s also a built-in speaker, so you can pair the visuals with white noise or music for extra atmosphere.

Custom nebula or soothing waves
If you’re after something more playful, the Star Light Projector (Nebula) comes with 7-zone RGBW nebula effects and over 50 preset modes, filling up to 540ft² with dynamic starscapes. It even has DIY options through the Govee app, making it a solid choice for bedrooms or gaming setups.
Meanwhile, the Ocean Wave edition ditches stars for flowing water patterns, using a dual-layer lens to project textured waves that ripple across the room. It’s paired with 40+ scenes, white noise options and sleep modes, so it doubles as a relaxation tool as much as décor.
All three models work with Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home thanks to Matter support, and the Govee app handles deeper controls like timers, dimming, or custom scene-building.
Price and availability
- Galaxy Light Projector 2 Pro – $179.99
- Star Light Projector (Nebula) – $99.99
- Star Light Projector (Ocean Wave) – $89.99
Govee’s projectors blur the line between gadget and décor, especially at these prices. They won’t replace a full-blown home cinema, but for mood lighting, they’re far more versatile than the basic LED strips we’ve seen in other smart lighting reviews, and it’s easy to see them appealing to the same crowd shopping for the best smart lights we’ve covered.
