The AirPods Pro 2 were considered to be one of the best true wireless earbuds when they launched, earning 4.5 star review from us back in 2022. Three years later, and they still offer one of the best performance around, especially if you’re a hardcore Apple user.
We found the noise-cancelling to be top notch, cutting away noises across the frequency range in a manner that’s slightly better than the Sony WF-1000XM4. The adaptive element of the earbuds’ ANC means it can automatically ramp up the noise-cancelling levels to meet whatever noise you’re up against.
The sound quality is on the rich side of the scale, with bass rich but also balanced so that it doesn’t become the main focus on any song you’re listening to. There’s good detail despite the warmth of the sound, and vocals sound very good on this pair of headphones.
There’s also Spatial Audio support, though that can be hit and miss. That’s not down to the headphones themselves, but more down to how tracks were mixed in spatial audio.
Bluetooth connectivity is excellent when paired with an iPhone, the connection between the earbuds and the smartphone didn’t cut out at all. Battery life is solid at six hours per charge, which more or less matched up to the tests we carried out.
The design is comfortable over longer periods, while the AirPods Pro 2 uses touch controls on the stem as well as swipes for playback, volume and other features.
The AirPods Pro 2 were an impressive pair of wireless earbuds when they first launched, and remain an impressive pair today. If you’re looking for a high quality AirPods but don’t want fork money out for the AirPods Pro 3, then it’s well worth considering a closer look at the AirPods Pro 2 as part of Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event.
