Disney is hinting at a very different streaming experience down the line, where viewers do more than just press play.
On the company’s latest earnings call, CEO Bob Iger said Disney is excited about artificial intelligence and sees a path for subscribers to create and consume short AI videos inside Disney Plus.
This is to make the service more dynamic and to give people creative tools that keep them coming back.
The Verge reports that Iger’s comments on AI-driven creation inside the app are focused on the broader push to make Disney’s streaming service more engaging for long-term subscribers.
It was also said that the future of Disney Plus could use AI-generated clips, and points out that Disney added 1.5 million subscribers in the US and Canada in the fourth quarter of 2025. So this brings the North American total to 59.3 million even after recent price increases.
What this might look like in practice is still to be fully determined, though, since Iger did not really lay out interfaces or timelines. His comments instead point toward Disney blending viewing with short-form creation.
That could mean guided prompts, character-themed templates, or kid-friendly tools that live safely inside the app instead of sending people off to separate platforms. As we already know, Netflix has experimented with games and interactive formats of its own, and Disney now seems ready to explore a similar space with its own flavour.
The AI push also sits alongside other ideas for deepening engagement. Iger talked about adding game-like features through the Epic Games partnership, which suggests mini experiences or interactive layers tied to shows and movies. He also flagged a commerce angle where Disney Plus becomes an engine that nudges people toward park visits, hotel stays, and cruises.
Yes, that sounds like a lot for one app, but it fits Disney’s habit of tying its worlds together across screens and real life.
