We awarded the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 four-stars and commended them for their sound, noise-cancellation and design.
One of the most important aspects of a sports headphones is the design. The Powerbeats Pro 2 are lighter than the previous model, the earhook helps keep them secure for the best grip and comfort levels. When we wore them on runs and during workouts, we didn’t have any issues in terms of comfort.
The earphones are sweat and water-resistant to IPX4, which protects them from splashes of water and sweat. If you’re worried about the fit, the PowerBeats Pro 2 comes with an extra-small ear-tip for those with smaller ears.
This model comes with ANC, a feature we don’t often see in over-ear hook designs, and it works very well at clearing away background noise either during runs or with workouts in the gym. There’s a transparency mode for when you do want to hear what’s around them, and we found this to be effective.
There’s also heart rate monitoring, which works with a selection of apps. It works without fuss, though if you’re an iPhone user, it’s integrated in a more slicker way than it is with Android smartphones.
Of course there’s the sound, and like many other Beats heapdhones, the Powerbeats Pro 2 goes for a clear, detailed and neutral sound. If you want more colour, perhaps you should have a look at another pair, but if you want insight and a balanced sound, the Powerbeats Pro 2 puts in a good performance.
