If you’ve got questions about music or you want a hand in setting up a new playlist, Alexa+, Amazon’s upgraded AI assistant, is now available in the Amazon Music app.

Anyone signed up to Alexa+ Early Access can use the AI assistant in the app by tapping the ‘A’ button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

According to TechCrunch, Amazon wants to help you to converse with the AI assistant to help answer questions or find you new music. You can ask about an artist’s influences or the story behind a track, and Alexa+ will try to keep pace when you’re trying to identify a song with a broken lyric.

It can also build playlists and develop them as you talk. For example, if you wanted a playlist featuring the greatest hits from 2010 starting with Nicki Minaj, it’ll build it for you in seconds.

Alexa+ is part of a Amazon’s bigger push into AI agents and was first announced in February. While it’s still in early access, Amazon says more than a million users already have access to it with users exploring songs “three times more” with Alexa+ over the original assistant.

And with Spotify experimenting with ChatGPT features, this seems like a smart move for Amazon to keep pace with its competitor and offer more options to its subscription base.

So if you’re an Early Access adopter and you can see the ‘A’ in the app, give it a whirl and let us know how it goes.
