A new leak may have just given us our clearest look yet at how Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup stacks up — not just against last year’s S25 phones, but also against Apple’s iPhone 17 range. And if these numbers are accurate, Samsung seems to be chasing something very specific: lighter, slimmer, but not dramatically redesigned.
The information comes from reliable tipster @UniverseIce, who posted weight and thickness details for the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. Notably absent is any mention of a successor to the Galaxy S25 Edge, which lends more weight to rumours that Samsung has quietly scrapped the model.
The standard Galaxy S26 will reportedly weigh 164g and come in at 6.9mm thick, making it a touch lighter and thinner than the iPhone 17, while also being slightly heavier but slimmer than the Galaxy S25 (162g, 7.2mm). The changes are small, but they keep Samsung’s base model on the compact side.
Moving up a size, the Galaxy S26 Plus is said to land at 191g and 7.3mm. That makes it lighter and thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro, and almost identical to the Galaxy S25 Plus (190g, 7.3mm). In other words: barely any physical change at all.
At the top end, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is tipped to weigh 214g with a thickness of 7.9mm. That’s slightly lighter and slimmer than both the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung’s own S25 Ultra (218g, 8.2mm). Again, we’re talking marginal refinements rather than a bold redesign, but that’s typical of Samsung’s Ultra strategy.
If anything, the leak hints at a broader trend: Samsung doesn’t seem in a hurry to chase ultra-thin designs. With the rumoured cancellation of the S26 Edge and the lukewarm reception to Apple’s iPhone Air, it seems consumers aren’t exactly asking for wafer-thin slabs right now.
As for when we’ll actually see the S26 range, the timing is less certain. The Galaxy S25 series arrived in January, but there’s now speculation that Samsung may push its 2026 flagship launch to February or even March.
For now, this leak gives us a sense of evolution rather than revolution, but with the launch window creeping closer, more substantial details shouldn’t be far behind.
