In the market for a premium amplifier for your hi-fi set-up? There aren’t too many more premium than the current line-up that Canadian hi-fi brand Moon are offering.
A new one has been added to line-up in the Moon 371, a network amplifier that combines a premium amplifier, preamplifier, DAC, network player, and phono stage into one device. If you want a piece of hi-fi kit at the heart of your set-up, the Moon 371 has the spec and credentials to do so.
The Moon 371 is first of Moon’s new Compass Collection, which aim to set a “fresh benchmark for modern audio systems”. How will it achieve this goal? Well, it’ll aim to make sure it supports all the leading streaming services through Moon’s MiND 2 streaming platform.
That bears support for the likes of Deezer, Tidal, Qobuz, and Spotify (all of which now support lossless audio in some form). It’s also compatible with AirPlay 2, Roon, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect, extending its tentacles further to make it easier to play music directly to the network amplifier.
With its phono stage that supports both MM and MC cartridges, you’ve got vinyl playback covered for records old and new. Moon aim to draw all out all the “integrity and detail” from your vinyl collection with, in their words, “impeccable accuracy”.
The Moon 371 also borrows a few tricks from the company’s flagship North Collection, making use of the MHP (Moon Hybrid Power) and MDCA (Moon Distortion Cancelling Amplifier) to increase the performance ceiling.
The former acts to provide “ultra-stable, efficient power” to the circuitry while the MDCA is said to remove distortion and improve linearity to produce clean, dynamic and accurate reproduction of audio.
With a power output of 100W into 8ohms, or 200W into 4ohms; the Moon 371 should be able to easily power your hi-fi set-up.
When can you get your hands on the Moon 371? Availability begins in mid-October with an MSRP of £6250.
