Nvidia has rolled out a new update to the Nvidia App that unlocks Project G-Assist on gaming laptops, letting you control several settings using the power of your own voice. While you can tell it to quieten the fans or improve your FPS, one of the most useful requests is the battery boost function, which should keep your laptop running for longer.

G-Assist was previously only available on desktop PCs, but update 11.0.5, which is out now, has extended the coverage to laptops, meaning you can optimise your laptop on the go for whatever you’re doing.

The update also brings new support and optimal setting recommendations for new games like Borderlands 4, Grounded 2, and Mafia: The Old Country, as well as DLSS Override Support for 13 more.

While the pre-selected game settings won’t be useful for the majority, they will for newcomers who feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of sliders in a game settings screen – especially on laptop. G-Assist has been improving for a while now and this update really solidifies that.

Now you won’t have to waste valuable time playing around with settings to get the most out of your laptop while you’re away from a plug – all you need to do is raise your voice.

Opinion

This is exactly the thing companies should be targeting with AI assistants. Laptops feel like the perfect use case for G-Assist and I’m delighted that BatteryBoost has been added.
