Coros just unveiled the Pace 4, bringing a brighter 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, improved heart-rate accuracy, and the same featherlight feel for $249 / £229.
For runners comparing Garmin’s Forerunner 165 or a Fitbit Versa 3, this keeps Coros squarely in the mix. The Pace 4 sticks to the ultralight formula, weighing in at 32 grams with the nylon strap, so it will not weigh down your long runs.
The display upgrade is a big quality-of-life fix, especially since the Pace 3’s mineral glass LCD was hard to see in bright sunlight. Switching to AMOLED should make stats and maps pop in all conditions.
Coros also reworked the optical sensor to reduce odd spikes and dropouts, so heart rate tracks should better match reality during intervals and tempo work.
You can also feel the battery improvement, with Coros rating the Pace 4 at up to 41 hours of GPS on a five-satellite lock, up from the Pace 3’s 25 hours on a two-satellite connection. That is a welcome boost if you spend time in multi-band mode or stack long workouts on a single charge.
There is a mic now, and while it sounds small, it is genuinely useful, letting you log training notes, drop Voice Pins, and jot quick memos hands-free mid-session. The rest stays familiar in a good way with the same case design as Pace 3, plus features like Virtual Pacer and race predictions, along with the deep metrics Coros is known for.
The Pace 4 may nudge up from $229 / £219 for the Pace 3, yet still sits below many AMOLED-equipped rivals. Plus, a brighter screen and steadier heart rate, without stepping into big-ticket territory, make it an easy pick.
Garmin still sets the bar for training tools and ecosystem, though the Pace 4’s display, battery, and sensor tweaks make a strong case if you want something light, clear, and long-lasting as well.
